How to Draw a Ford Shelby

Today we will learn how to draw a Ford Shelby, an even more hight-performance version of the legendary Ford Mustang.

How to draw a Ford Shelby: step-by-step tutorial

Step 1 – Outline the shape of the muscle car

First, sketch the iconic Ford Shelby body shape. The car has a very long hood and flat roof, along with a sloping roof. Use very smooth and light lines at this stage to leave a chance for corrections. The aerodynamic body of the car is its one of the most noticeable features.

Step 2 – Draw the Ford Shelby wheel arches

Now, draw the front wheel arch using a smooth semicircle. Then, draw the rear wheel arch using the same shape. Both arches should be equal in size and shape. Also, you can trace the bottom edge using darker lines.

Step 3 – Detail the front and rear parts

First, draw the angular headlight using straight lines. Then, draw the front bumper below the headlight. After that, draw the taillight of the car and depict the rear bumper. Above the taillight draw the spoiler.

Step 4 – Draw the windows and trace the roof

Move to the top of the car and trade the roof using very smooth and dark line. Then, draw the windshield and depict the window frame. One of the most distinctive parts of the car is the long snd narrow window frame. Then, trace the hood and draw the antenna on the roof.

Step 5 – Draw the Ford Shelby mirror and handle

Draw the side mirror using short and straight lines. Then, draw the pillar clearly defining the windows. After that, draw the handle just below the window and sketch the fuel door on the back of the body. Add some decorative lines and define the back bumper.

Step 6 – Sketch the muscle car door

Now using very smooth and clear lines draw the single door on this side of the sports car. Since this is a classic muscle car and coupe, the door have to be very long and massive. Then, draw the hood of the car using thin lines.

Step 7 – Draw the wheels of the Ford Shelby

Proceed to the wheels and draw the first one as a perfect circle. Then, draw the rear wheel the same way. After that, draw the rims inside the wheels keeping them similar in size and shape.

Step 8 – Detail the muscle car rims

Let’s detail the rims, drawing them inside the shapes from the previous step. First, draw the central circles. Then, draw thin spikes that fan out from the center to the edges of the rims. You can add bolts for extra detail and realism.

Step 9 – Erase the constitution lines

This is the time to give the Ford Shelby drawing more clean and smooth look. First, remove the construction lines from the sketch using an eraser. Then, trace your sketch using dark and clear lines and add some extra detail if it’s needed.

Step 10 – Add hatching or color

Let’s make the drawing look more dimensional. First, add shadows to the unlit areas using hatching. After that, add hatching to the windows, headlight, and taillight to give them a glossy look. You can also add color to make your drawing look even more realistic.
