How to Draw a Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Are you a fan of German cars and looking for a step by step guide on how to draw a Mercedes-Benz S-class? If so, then this tutorial, made by the artists of Drawcarz is designed specifically for you!
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is one of the most luxury car in the world. This is the company’s flagship, equipped with the most powerful engines, boasting the most advanced technologies, and, of course, being the pinnacle of design excellence.
Here we’ll show you the most important features of Mercedes-Benz cars and explain how to sketch them, making authentic and realistic.
In one of the previous instructions, we already showed how to draw a Mercedes-Benz S-Coupe, the two door version of the car, and here we will sketch the four door sedan version.

How to draw a Mercedes-Benz S-Class: step-by-step tutorial
Step 1 – Sketch the car body outline
In the very initial stage, lightly draw a general silhouette of your Mercedes-Benz S-Class. To create a silhouette, do not use dark and solid lines, because in the future we will have to erase them. The lines should be very smooth and flowing, since the car looks really sleek.

Step 2 – Sketch the wheels, arches, lights, and windows
Now add the wheels, trying to make them the very round and smooth. The size of both wheels should be identical. Next, create the arches above them, following the shape of the tires. After that, draw the elongated windows line on the cabin of your Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Mark the headlights at the front and rear of the vehicle. Remember to add the rearview mirror.

Step 3 – Sketch the doors and rims
Now, let’s sketch the doors and add windshield using similar smooth and light lines. Inside the tires, lightly sketch the rims of your S-Class, which should also be very round and symmetrical, and follow the shape of the wheels. Add some details, such as the side edge of the grille and decorative lines on the bumper, to make the front look more detailed.

Step 4 – Draw the front of the S-Class in detail
If the initial loose and rough sketch of your S-Class is ready, then it’s time to start working with the final lines and more detailed work on the sketch. As always, we start with the very front of the luxury car, and use dark and smooth lines. First, detail the side edge of the grille, and trace the iconic headlight of the luxury sedan. Father this, detail the bottom of the bumper and trace the front wheel arch.

Step 5 – Draw the roof of your Mercedes-Benz
Continue to trace and darken the German luxury car. Moving to the top, carefully draw out the upper part of the cabin, making the lines of the roof more clear and aesthetic. Divide the window frame with a pillar and trace the shapes using darker lines. Remember to erase unwanted guidelines as you trace your S-Class final details.

Step 6 – Trace the S-Class’ back part
Here we’ll tackle the trunk. Design the rear edge of the car with wide bold and clean lines. Trace the recognizable elongated taillight. Strengthen the bumper and add the exhaust pipe beneath it. Decorative trim lines can be outlined with parallel strokes across the trunk surface.

Step 7 – Detail the doors and windows
In this stage, we will complete the work on the S-Class’ body. As before, trace the doors using darker lines and create handles. The handles look like two smooth shapes on both doors, just below the windows. Add some decorative lines just below the handles, using long, smooth, and flowing strokes. Erase the remaining guidelines from your S-Class drawing.

Step 8 – Draw the rims of your Mercedes-Benz S-Class
This stage requires a maximum care and attention. Trace the wheels and outlines of the rims to make them perfectly round, erasing extra guidelines. Next, create the central part of the rims and detail the spokes that diverge from the center to the edges. You can create a simple design, or make the rims more detailed, using references from the internet, or our other tutorials.

Step 9 – Add shadows, highlights, and final touches
With the help of smooth and even hatching, add shadows in those places where it is indicated by our artists. For example, add shadows to the lower edger of the S-Class parts. You can make the shading more complex, adding mid-tones. Next, add some highlights to the glass surfaces to make the Mercedes-Benz drawing look more three-dimensional.

More luxury car drawing practice
This lesson was one of our series of lessons about luxury cars, and among them there are many more interesting and beautiful models that you can depict.
This car has really beautiful lines that show the skill of the designer who created it. Notice how the lines of this car flow smoothly into each other, creating a stylish, luxurious, and at the same time fast design.
By trying to repeat them, making them as detailed and proportional as possible, you will be able to do much more than just repeat the appearance of the car in front of you, but also understand the basics of the design code underlying the Mercedes-Benz cars.
For example, you can draw a BMW 8 series, a two-door and extremely fast car, which in its design properties is on par with the S-class family.
After that, be sure to visit our tutorial on drawing the Mercedes E-Class, where you’ll see how many of the same design solutions apply to another car from the same brand, but in a lower category – the business class.
In addition, don’t miss our main car drawing tutorial, where using the Mercedes CLS as an example we explain the core fundamentals and key principles that form the foundation of sketching any car at all.
We regularly post new lessons along with extra materials and coloring pages, so to make sure you don’t miss any of them we strongly recommend following us on social media and subscribing to our email newsletter.
