How to Draw a BMW E30
This tutorial on how to draw a BMW E30 will show you the process of sketching the classic silhouette of one of BMW’s most iconic models.
As with all our lessons, we’ll show you how to draw this car from a side view.
As we mentioned in other tutorials on drawing a car from the side, this angle makes the process much easier and helps you better understand how to draw the BMW E30.
In addition, the design of the BMW E30 features simple lines and minimal details, which makes the drawing process easier. So let’s try sketching this legendary car straight from the 1980s.

How to Draw a BMW E30: step-by-step tutorial
Step 1: Create the outline of the body
First, sketch the overall shape of the BMW E30 using very smooth and light lines. Outline the angular forms of the car, defining the front, middle and back sections.

Step 2: Draw the BMW E30 wheel arches
Now, move to the bottom of the shape from the step one and draw the wheel arches as two symmetrical semicircles. At this stage, use very smooth and dark likes, giving them a polished look.

Step 3: Detail the front and back of the car
Next, detail the front of the sedan, drawing the front bumper and headlight. BMW E30 has angular from part with circular headlights. Then, sketch the rear bumper and angular taillight.

Step 4: Draw the BMW E30 top in detail
Now, let’s move to the top of the car and draw the BMW E30 windshield, side, and rear windows. Then, using smooth and crisp lines, trace the hood, roof, and trunk of the car.

Step 5: Sketch the mirror, pillar, and handle
Let’s add some essential details, that make the car more recognizable. First, draw the side mirror, then sketch the b-pillar, rectangular handle, and small circular keyhole.

Step 6: Draw the door and molding of the BMW E30
Draw the single door on the side. Add horizontal body lines across the car’s side. Draw the long narrow molding on the lower part of the door and another shorter one closer to the top.

Step 7: Draw the wheels and define the rimes
Now, sketch the outlines of the wheels. Use two clean and even circles for each wheel, one inside the other, keeping them well-centered inside the arches. This will define the tires and rims

Step 8: Draw the BMW E30 rims
Begin adding basic internal wheel detail. First, draw additional circles inside the outlines of the rimes. Between the two outer rings, draw a series of evenly spaced short lines.

Step 9: Erase the construction lines
Now, refine the outlines and strengthen all the main contours of the car. Use darker and smoother lines to trace the edges of the body, windows, and wheels, making the drawing look cleaner.

Step 10: Add hatching and final details
Finish the drawing by adding some basic hatching for shading. Add short diagonal lines to the windows and body panels to give the BMW E30 drawing a solid and realistic appearance.
