How to Draw a Ford Fiesta

In this step-by-step tutorial we will learn how to draw a Ford Fiesta, a small but very popular car from the American brand.

We usually draw very powerful and luxury cars, like Lamborghini or Ferrari, and very rarely we draw such small cars as the Ford Fiesta. But in this tutorial we want to expand our small cars category and draw a Ford Fiesta in a fairly realistic style.

How to draw a Ford Fiesta: step-by-step tutorial

Step 1: Sketch the shape of the car

First, sketch the basic outline of the car with very light lines. Don’t draw details and make the lines to dark , to have an opportunity to adjust the parts in the next steps. The car has a very short hood, smooth shapes and small body.

Step 2: Add the wheel arches

Trace the bottom edge using very dark and bold lines. Then, draw the front and rear wheel arches as two small semicircular forms. Unlike luxury or sports cars, the Ford Fiesta has very small wheel arches.

Step 3: Draw the Ford Fiesta front and rear parts

Now, draw the front bumper using smooth lines and indicating the fog lamp on the lower part. Next, draw the headlight as an elongated oval above the bumper. After that, draw the rear bumper and depict the taillight above.

Step 4: Sketch the window

Trace the hood of the Ford Fiesta using very smooth and dark line. Then trace the hood and back edge. After that, sketch the windshield and rear window. Finish adding windows by drawing the side window area using long and smooth lines.

Step 5: Draw the Ford Fiesta mirror and handles

Now, draw the mirror as a couple of small shapes. Next, define the windows with short straight lines. Then, draw the handle right below the window. If you want to draw a four-door version, make the body a little longer and draw the back window behind the one you’ve already drawn.

Step 6: Draw the door and detail the body

Sketch the hood using a very smooth and thin line. Unlike larger cars, vehicles like the Ford Fiesta have a very short hood. Then, draw the door with the help of smooth lines. Add the fuel door on the back of the body.

Step 7: Draw the Ford Fiesta wheels

Move back to the bottom of the body and draw the wheels. First, draw the front wheel using a perfectly circular shape. Then, draw the rear wheel similar to the front one in the shape and size. Draw the rims inside the wheel shapes.

Step 8: Add the rims inside the wheels

Now, start drawing the rims of the car in detail. First, draw the central parts. After that, draw spikes that fan out from the center to the edges of the rimes. Unlike larger and more lux cars, small cars like this one have simple and small rims with uncomplicated texture.

Step 9: Erase the construction lines and trace the sketch

To give your Ford Fiesta drawing a more polished appearance, erase the construction lines and trace the sketch with more dark and smooth lines. Also, it is a good point to add some extra details or adjust the shapes and parts.

Step 10: Add some color or hatching

It’s time to make the Ford Fiesta drawing look more voluminous and three-dimensional. To do this, add hatching to the windows and lights. Then, add hatching to unlit areas to create the effect of lights and shadows on your artwork.
