How to Draw an Aston Martin

The team of DrawCarz loves fast and cool cars, and in this regard, we will now show you how to draw an Aston Martin.

If you are well versed in cars, then you already realized that here we will explain the whole process using the stunning Aston Martin Vulcan as an example.

But the Vulcan is not limited to this model. To learn how to sketch some other models, scroll to the end of the page, where we will tell you how to transform this drawing into almost any other version.

How to draw an Aston Martin: step-by-step tutorial

Step 1 – Outline the aerodynamic racing profile

Sketch the basic silhouette of the Aston Martin. Use a smooth contour line for the roof arc and a long horizontal stroke for the base of the body. The hood should be extended and the rear slightly raised. This shape will capture the proportions of the British luxury sports car.

Step 2 – Outline the performance tires, spoiler, and windows

Draw two large circles for the wheels, trying to make them even in size. Indicate the front and rear lamps with narrow shapes. Above the body, sketch the thin side windows and mark the sloping windshield. At the rear, block in the massive racing spoiler, which defines the Aston Martin’s aggressive aerodynamic bodywork.

Step 3 – Set up the fenders, coupe door, and rims

Sketch curved arches above the wheels, giving them a muscular look. Inside the circles, mark the rims with smaller guiding ellipses. Add the coupe-style door and place an aerodynamic rearview mirror. The lines should be very light.

Step 4 – Shape the Vulcan’s nose with intakes

Now, switch to darker contour strokes for the nose of the sports car. Outline the bumper, narrow headlight, and large front air intakes. These vents should cut deep into the lower fascia and represent the racing look. Redraw the hood lines making them bold and smooth.

Step 5 – Trace the Aston Martin low coupe roof

Trace the roof of the British sports car with smooth, confident lines. Redraw the windshield and side glass, making them slim and elongated. Add more detail to the mirror, shaping it with precise strokes. Also, you can add some intricate details to the top of the car.

Step 6 – Define the aggressive rear architecture

Draw the wide rear bumper and horizontal taillight. The taillights on Vulcan are very detailed, so try to represent them in your drawing as we did in our illustration. Add lines for the diffuser at the bottom. Above, refine the oversized spoiler with strong strokes.

Step 7 – Trace the angular door and skirt

Strengthen the angular contour of the door and trace the lower skirt line. Additionally, you can sketch some decorative lines and creases to make the sports car look more detailed. Use an eraser to remove construction marks and clean the sketch.

Step 8 – Draw the Aston Martin lightweight racing rims

Move again to the wheels. Start with the central hubs, then add spokes radiating outward. Keep the spoke layout symmetrical, with thin, lightweight patterns typical of track-oriented racing cars. You can use short hatch marks inside the rims to convey metallic surfaces.

Step 9 – Complete the Vulcan adding shadows

Erase leftover guides and begin shading. Darken the areas indicate in our illustration. You can add more tonal gradients for a more three-dimensional appearance. Leave highlights on the glass and spoiler edges to show reflections.

Other sports and race cars to draw after Aston Martin

After practicing with a British sports and race car, it’s time to expand the experience and see how other countries approach performance design.

By studying models from Italy, Germany, America, Japan, and beyond, you can compare how different traditions shape the look of sports cars.

In our Lamborghini drawing tutorial, we will sketch the sharp wedge-shaped silhouettes and bold geometry that have defined Italian supercars for decades.

The Porsche drawing tutorial demonstrates a completely different philosophy from Germany. This car design is also one of the oldest in the row.

If you want to return to America, the Ford Mustang drawing guide explains how muscle car proportions and shapes can be used to create a different kind of sports performance look, deeply tied to U.S. tradition.

Further, try the Toyota Corolla drawing tutorial, where we demonstrate how Japanese brands create their sports cars and what design solutions they use in their concept arts.

Finally, our race car drawing lesson lets you explore the extreme side of sports design. In this tutorial, we show how to sketch aerodynamic shapes to illustrate a believable racing car.
