How to Draw a BMW 5 Series
In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw a BMW 5 Series – one of the most famous and favorite cars on the planet Earth.
This company has existed for many decades and has managed to create a huge number of cars during its existence.
BMW made not only simple cars but also electric sports cars, large trucks, and even motors for aircraft. But this is a story about a completely different artist.
In today’s instruction on how to sketch a BMW 5 Series, we will illustrate one of the most popular models of this brand.

How to draw a BMW 5 series: step-by-step tutorial
Step 1 – Lightly sketch the car’s basic proportions
Outline the general outline of the BMW 5 Series. Use very light lines to mark the size and placement of the car on the sheet. At this stage, you should convey the length, height, and main silhouette. Do not add any details yet, just try to make the body look authentic.

Step 2 – Draw the BMW 5 Series upper derails
Refine the basic body shape with smoother, cleaner lines. Sketch the long frame of the windows along the upper part of the car. Add the visible sections of both the front and rear glass. The roofline should have very smooth shape.

Step 3 – Detail the sedan’s front and rear shapes
Depict the front and rear bumpers, giving them a them minimalistic look, compared to a sports car. Draw the headlight in front and the taillight at the rear of your BMW 5 Series. Pay attention to keeping both sides symmetrical. A light line for the grille can also be added.

Step 4 – Draw the B-pillar and doors of the BMW
Add large semicircular arches for the wheels at the front and rear. In the center of the window frame, sketch the B-pillar to divide the front and rear glass. Then draw the doors beneath, aligning them carefully with the arches. The handles and trim will be added later.

Step 5 – Mark the sedan’s front mirror and handles
Draw a side mirror on the corner of the front window frame of the BMW 5 Series. Add handles on the doors, with the rear handle slightly higher than the front one. This small detail will help make the drawing more accurate. Keep the handles simple, using short horizontal lines. At this stage, you can also add a thin molding line along the doors.

Step 6 – Draw out the wheel and rims of the BMW
Erase all auxiliary construction lines from the body. Sketch the wheels as smooth, round shapes. Inside, add the shapes of the rims, making them equally round and symmetrical. Both wheels should be loca on the same level. You may also mark the tire thickness and texture.

Step 7 – Draw the 5 Series sun-like spokes
In the center of each rim, sketch a small circle for the hub. From this hub, extend the spokes outward evenly, resembling sun rays. The spokes should be thin but strong in appearance. Adding a light outline for the brake disc will increase realism.

Step 8 – Add shadows, reflections, and mid-tones
Shade the darkest areas first, such as the wheel arches and bottom edges of the bumpers. Then add mid-tones to create volume. Highlight the glass with long lines to imitate reflections. At this stage, you can also refine small details like trim or panel gaps to finalize the BMW drawing.
