How to Draw a Chevy Truck
Pickup trucks drawing tutorials are the most popular topics on DrawCarz, and so now our team will show you how to draw a Chevy truck to give your another cool subject to practice.
We have already shown you how to sketch trucks from Ford, Dodge, and other popular American brands. All these cars share similar philosophy.
The process of sketching a Chevrolet truck is also similar to the listed above, but still has some distinguishing features, which we will also describe in the steps of this tutorial.

How to draw a Chevy truck: step-by-step tutorial
Step 1 – Sketch the squared silhouette of the pickup
Begin with the main outline of the Chevrolet truck. First indicate the cab, then extend the cargo box behind it. Use light, loose lines so the silhouette looks natural. The proportions should convey the squared and massive look typical for an American pickup.

Step 2 – Mark the tires and straight cabin windows
Place two round tires under the truck body. They must be even and proportional so the vehicle looks realistic. Next, outline the cabin window with long strokes. The lines should remain light since this is still a rough sketch.

Step 3 – Sketch the Chevy’s doors and fenders
Add the outlines of the doors and refine the windows. Draw the Chevy Truck rims inside the circles of the wheels and square arches above them. Indicate the bumpers and lights at the front and rear. At this point, you can also sketch the side step or running board, a common feature in workhorse pickups.

Step 4 – Draw out the Chevy Truck front volumes
Switch to darker finishing lines and define the nose of the truck. Detail the headlight structure and the massive bumper shape. Also, trace the front square wheel arch with darker lines. Draw out the Chevy Truck hood and add the line of the edge.

Step 5 – Refine the upper greenhouse with strong roofline
Work on the top of the cab by tracing smooth and confident roof contours. Define the side windows and roof shape more clearly. The roofline should look solid and flat, giving the Chevrolet pickup truck cab a finished look. Don’t forget to show the slight tilt of the A-pillar.

Step 6 – Complete the door shapes and add the handles
Give the doors a finished appearance by darkening their outlines. Add the door handles and refine the decorative trim lines. This will help separate different panels and convey the large surfaces typical for trucks. At this stage, you can also adjust the door size to match the cabin configuration, whether single cab or double cab.

Step 7 – Trace the cargo box, bumper and lamp
Now move to the rear part of the Chevy truck drawing. Carefully trace the cargo box with clear straight lines. Detail the rear lamp on the side and trace the bumper below it. These details make the pickup kook more realistic, as the cargo box is the defining element of a Chevy truck.

Step 8 – Draw out the Chevy Truck tires and rims
Focus on the wheels again and draw out the rims inside the circles. Start from the center hub, then add spokes spreading outward evenly like rays. Keep the design simple but strong to match the truck’s workhorse character. You can also illustrate thicker tire sidewalls.

Step 9 – Finalize your Chevy Truck drawing with shading
At the final stage, add shading with hatching. Place simple shadows inside the wheel arches and beneath the bumpers. Indicate mid-tone areas. Reflections on the windows and hood will make the American truck sketch look more convincing.
